We're a Family in Christ Jesus
Christian Education
We at Emmanuel Episcopal Church have, since our beginning in 1910, felt the need to provide a sound biblical education. We have provided classes from Pre-School to Adults, Bible Studies, Healing Service, and a strong St. Luke’s Guild in connection with healing. Through our Women’s, Men’s, and Youth groups we have and are continuing the education as well as daily devotions, special services, and study groups in connection with the liturgical season.

Each Sunday at 9:00 AM the Pre-School, Kindergarten, and Primary Age children meet in the lower level of the new Parish Hall (at the back parking lot) for short educational lessons, chapel service and fun games, songs, and art to go along with the lessons. In the old Parish Hall (at the back of the church) the Junior and Senior High groups meet for lessons, fun and refreshments at 9:00 AM as well. The Youth, which encompasses juniors to young adults, meet every other Sunday at 11:45 AM in the Loft over the old Parish Hall for study and fun, planning special outings and other projects.

Those youth wishing to participate more fully in the Liturgy receive special training as Acolytes and Lectors. We also host a Children’s Church during part of the Holy Eucharist on Sundays. The children all participate in the celebration of special holidays with parties, plays, and role playing.

On Tuesday evenings we have a Taize Prayer Service, followed by the Guild of Sts. Peter and Paul, which is a special study group where the Bible, theology, patrology, liturgy, and spirituality are studied throughout the year.  The primary purpose of the Guild is to encourage all members of Emmanuel Episcopal Church to gain a deeper appreciation of their faith so that they may be able to share it with others.

We also provide assistance for children to attend our Church Camp at Peterkin (located just outside Romney, West Virginia), where they get a combination of fun and Christian-based education in the faith.
